Before you make your way back to Makarska, stop for a few hours at the adjacent village of Skradin. The restaurants located by the sea offer delicious local food (you must try the mouthwatering fresh fish!). Krka National Park was the highlight of our trip to Makarska, Croatia and we honestly can’t recommend it enough!

#7 Take A Stroll Along The Makarska Promenade

The promenade in Makarska runs for miles along the coast and is ideal for an evening stroll after the sun sets over Biokovo mountain. You can stop off at cafes or bars by the water and enjoy a refreshing drink. Even better, we’re sure that the tempting smell of the food will easily lure you to one of the noteworthy restaurants located right on the promenade. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to taste some of the famous artisan cheese paski sir which originates from the Adriatic island of Pag. Start your walk an hour before the sun sets, so take advantage of the golden hour. The scenery here looks magical washed in golden light.

Croatia has some of the most stunning beaches we’ve seen to date! In Makarska, Croatia you’ll find a few hidden gems that will quickly become your favorite. The beauty of the beaches here doesn’t rely solely on the staggering clear waters but also on the picture-perfect lush surroundings. We’ll admit that it might be somewhat challenging to find a sandy beach in Makarska and the rest of Croatia if we’re being honest. With that said, the jaw-dropping setting will make up for the extra effort in walking on the pebbly beach and trying to find a smooth spot to lay your towel.

Located just outside of town, this is a must-visit for anyone interested in learning more about Makarska’s history. Built during the 18th century, the museum has been described as a “jewel box” with its gorgeous Baroque architecture.
