Joshua Tree: The Coolest Airstream Experience (BEST AIRBNB)

Last Updated: December 21, 2023

While we were road tripping across the West Coast, we had a change of heart and instead of staying in Palm Springs, we decided to go for a Joshua Tree desert experience. After being on the road for many hours, I was very much looking forward to staying for a night at a place where I could relax and recharge my batteries before heading on to our next destination. The Airstream was a perfect choice! It had all we could ask for – a comfortable bed, a fridge to keep our drinks cold, and a barbecue.

STARGAZING IN JOSHUA TREE

The trailer was located at a secluded location, allowing us to experience a quiet night in the desert. Not too remote, however, as there were also glamping tents adjacent to our RV. Also, the highway was only 10 minutes away by car. Since this was our first time spending a night in the California desert, we found the location to be perfect!

On our way there, we stopped at a local grocery store and stock on the bare necessities, meaning primarily IPA and marshmallows. I was thrilled that we managed to arrive just in time to watch the sunset. The desert looked magical as the sunset colors reflected on the Joshua trees.

We had a great laugh trying to light the campfire with the little firewood we had and toast our marshmallows. After a few failed attempts and way too many burned marshmallows, we finally got it right (hooray)!

The highlight for me was definitely the beautiful rustic porch, where we spent the biggest part of our night, stargazing. It was without a doubt an experience to remember and I am very much looking forward to repeating it.

If you decide to spend more time in the area, there are a few unique vintage stores to check out in Yucca Valley. If you’re more of a foodie, then Palm Springs is the ultimate destination as it offers an array of great restaurants. Joshua Tree is also ideal if you’re an adventurous type of traveler. Some of the activities that you could try are horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking.
