Da Nang is a vibrant coastal city in central Vietnam. When we arrived in Vietnam as part of our 2-month Southeast Asian trip, we had already spent three weeks in northern Thailand, and I was eager to spend some time by the seaside. We wanted to visit as many places as possible in Vietnam, and among them, Da Nang, with its captivating beaches, was at the top of our list.
Our leisurely days were filled with activities such as spending hours on the beach and relish the delectable local cuisine at the numerous fantastic restaurants and cafes available in Da Nang. It was exactly just what we were looking for!

Here’s a rundown of the best things to do in Da Nang to make your trip memorable.
HOW TO GET TO DA NANG
Getting to Da Nang is easy as the city is well-connected to major cities in Vietnam and other countries. The town is serviced by Da Nang International Airport, which has regular flights from major Asian cities like Bangkok, Singapore, and Seoul, as well as domestic flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Alternatively, you can also take a train or a bus from other parts of Vietnam, which offers a scenic journey through the Vietnamese countryside. The best way to book train or bus tickets is through 12Go Asia.
BEST THINGS TO DO IN DA NANG
Marvel at the Marble Mountains
The Marble Mountains are a cluster of limestone hills that are not to be missed in Da Nang. During our visit, we explored the caves that are nestled within the mountains and enjoyed the panoramic views of the city and the coastline from the hilltops. Be sure to visit the famous Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village at the base of the Marble Mountains, where you can witness the local artisans creating beautiful sculptures from marble.
Relax at My Khe Beach
Known for its pristine white sand and turquoise waters, My Khe Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam. We had a blast spending a day lounging on the soft sands and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. If you’re into watersports then don’t miss out on the opportunity to try surfing and paddleboarding. The beach is lined with beachfront cafes and restaurants where you can indulge in local delicacies while enjoying the stunning sunset views.
Discover the Ancient Town of Hoi An
Just a short drive from Da Nang, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An is a must-visit destination. Known for its well-preserved ancient town with colourful lanterns, historic buildings, and charming streets, Hoi An offers a glimpse into Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage. We stayed 2 days in Hoi An and absolutely loved taking leisurely strolls along the riverfront and exploring the ancient temples. If you visit (which we strongly recommend), sample the local street food for a truly authentic experience.
Get Adventurous at Ba Na Hills
For thrill-seekers, a visit to Ba Na Hills is a must. This mountain resort is famous for its Golden Bridge – you surely have come across them on Instagram – a unique bridge held up by giant stone hands. Here you’ll also get to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. You can also take a ride on the world’s longest cable car, visit the French Village, and enjoy thrilling rides at Fantasy Park. Ba Na Hills is a perfect destination for a day of adventure and fun.

WHERE TO EAT IN DA NANG
Da Nang, like the rest of Vietnam, is a food lover’s paradise. Some must-try dishes include banh mi (Vietnamese baguette sandwich), mi quang (a local noodle dish), and banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake). The city also has a vibrant seafood scene, with many seafood restaurants serving fresh catches from the nearby ocean. Be sure to explore the local markets and street food stalls for an authentic culinary experience.
From street food stalls to local restaurants, here’s a list of the 5 best places to eat in Da Nang for an unforgettable dining experience.
Madam Khanh
A visit to Vietnam is incomplete without trying banh mi. If you’re Da Nang, then Madam Khanh is the best place to try it. The combination of crispy baguette, savoury pork, pate and fresh vegetables creates a perfect harmony of flavours. It’s a perfect grab-and-go option for a tasty and satisfying meal on the go.
Roots Plant Based Cafe
If you’re a vegan or just looking for a healthy and delicious meal, Roots Plant Based Cafe in Da Nang is a must-visit spot for you. This charming little cafe, nestled in a quiet street in the heart of the city, offers a variety of plant-based dishes that are not only tasty but also nourishing. The menu is diverse, offering classic breakfast items, salads, wraps, bowls, smoothies, fresh juices, and coffee.
LANG3 | The Hub, Cafe & Bar
This place is a total gem. The vibe is super chill and welcoming, and the staff are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. The food and drinks are delicious. The menu is varied and there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal or just a snack to tide you over. And the drinks…oh man, the drinks. They’ve got some seriously tasty cocktails and beers on tap.
Bún Chả 33
The restaurant is located in a cosy little alleyway, but don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you. The star of the show here is the food. Bún Chả is a traditional Vietnamese dish consisting of grilled pork served with rice noodles, fresh herbs, and a dipping sauce. And let me tell you, Bún Chả 33 does it justice! The pork is tender and flavorful, and the dipping sauce has just the right amount of tanginess to complement the dish. We can’t recommend this place enough!
