If you’re a food lover (I mean, who isn’t?), be prepared to have your taste buds tantalized by the unique flavors of local dishes and regional specialties. We had already been a week in Chiang Mai when we discovered this cool place. We were craving avocado on toast and after reading the Google reviews, we decided to give it a go. They have an extensive menu, offering a range of classic breakfast dishes, as well as more unique and creative options. We both had the eggs and croissants with bacon jam and it was divine!
Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast sandwich, a light and healthy smoothie bowl, or something in between, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. We highly recommend giving this charming restaurant a try!

Coconut Shell Thai Food is one of those restaurants in Chiang Mai which we kept going back to. It is a hidden gem, offering authentic and delicious Thai food in a very casual and friendly atmosphere. The menu is extensive and features a variety of traditional dishes, including stir-fries, curries, and noodle dishes. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are always spot-on, making every dish a delight to eat. Honestly, we ate at this place 3 times and it never disappointed us. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous too. The owner is very lovely and kind, making you feel right at home.
4. Nun’s Restaurant
This is another hidden gem and one of those restaurants in Chiang Mai that are well worth seeking out. It is a quaint and cozy eatery that offers a delicious selection of Thai favorites and specialties. The menu is well-crafted, and all the dishes are prepared with the freshest ingredients. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic dish like Pad Thai or something a little more adventurous, you’re sure to find something you love on the menu.

5. Ombra Caffe no.3
Ombra Caffe no.3 is the perfect place if you’re a digital nomad or simply looking for a coffee shop in Chiang Mai to work from. It is a small but cozy cafe and what’s also great about this place is the strong Wi-Fi connection. It almost feels like a co-working place with comfortable sitting.
The coffee is great too, so it’s a win-win-win! If you get hungry, the menu features light bites (their avo on toast it’s delightful), and fresh baked goods. Whether you’re in the mood for a nice brunch or a place to get some work done, Ombra Caffe no.3 is definitely worth a visit.
6. Khao Tom Bat Diao
This was the first restaurant in Chiang Mai we ate at. We arrived late in the city, and we were so lucky it was located right by our hotel.
It is a cozy restaurant, yet full of life. Also, we dare say, one of the best restaurants in Chiang Mai to get a taste of traditional Thai cuisine.
The menu at Khao Tom Bat Diao is a feast for the senses, featuring a variety of dishes that highlight the bold and complex flavors of Thai cuisine. The restaurant’s specialty is its Khao Tom, a traditional rice soup that is served with an array of ingredients such as shrimp, pork, and various herbs and spices.
In addition to the Khao Tom, you’ll also find a range of other dishes, including savory curries, stir-fries, and salads.
7. Chada Vegetarian Restaurant in Chiang Mai
This was by far one of my favorite restaurants in Chiang Mai! We have been here 3 times and each time the food was absolutely delicious – every dish was cooked to perfection and packed with flavors! The restaurant is run by 3 women or so it seemed and they were the loveliest people we had met in Chiang Mai. Incredibly friendly, humble, and kind.
The restaurant itself is unassuming; with very simple decor, but cozy and inviting. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a mouthwatering meal. I can’t recommend Chada Vegetarian Restaurant enough. It is one of the best restaurants in Chiang Mai for vegetarian food and with very affordable prices too. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT miss their Pad Thai! You can thank me later.
8. Kat’s Kitchen
Kat’s Kitchen restaurant is located in Chiang Mai Old Town. You’ll find all the Thai favorites but also healthy and vegetarian-friendly dishes with few vegan options.
We ate here once and we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and the service. Their menu is diverse so for sure you’ll find your fix here. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous, making it a great option for a delicious and affordable meal.
Be sure to try their spring rolls, you won’t be disappointed!
This is a great place to have a quick lunch and relax before you continue exploring the Old Town.
