Located on Monastiraki square, 360 Cocktail bar in Athens offers some of the most stunning views over the Acropolis. The entrance is from the side road off Monastiraki square. Take the lift all the way to the top floor and from there you’ll need to go up one more flight of stairs. During the day, the ambiance is relaxing but during the evening the music gets louder and the bar comes to life. 360 Cocktail Bar has been a favorite spot among Athenians for many years so while you may find a few tourists here and there, the patrons of the majority are locals.
ATHENSWAS
Right at the entrance of Plaka, on Dionysiou Areopagitou street, you’ll find AthensWas hotel. What I love most about this place is its proximity to Acropolis, which is 10 minutes away! As you enter the amazing rooftop bar, you’ll be greeted by gorgeous views over this magnificent archeological structure, as well as all of Plaka. This is a great spot to start your day with a coffee before you start exploring Athens city center or you could end it here with a nice chilled glass of rose wine. GRANDE BRETAGNE HOTEL
Grande Bretagne was one of the first luxury hotels I ever stayed at and it was such a great experience, I had to include it on this list. This stunning hotel carries so much history, as it is one of the oldest hotels in Athens. You’ll feel the luxury touches from the moment you enter and you’re greeted warmly by the doorman, to the moment you reach the GB Roof Garden and your hostess shows you to your table. With that being said, this place gets quite busy so be sure to book a table. They serve excellent cocktails but it is worth also trying out their great dishes. This is a fantastic place if you want to treat yourself to a bit of luxury during your stay in Greece.
COCO-MAT HOTEL, ATHENS
This is by far one of the chicest places in town. The decor of all Coco-Mat Hotels is elegant with pops of color that brighten up space. The view over the Acropolis steals the show from this stunning rooftop bar but as you adjust to the surroundings, you’ll soon begin to also appreciate the whole experience. I’d highly recommend that you visit during the evening for dinner, which you can see it being prepared by the skillful chefs, from the open kitchen.
KUZINA RESTAURANT
As you explore the picturesque alleys of Plaka, make your way towards Thisio where you will find Kuzina restaurant. What once was a private mansion, now has been converted to one of Athens’ best restaurants. This is where tradition meets modernity through the innovative “traditional” cuisine and the cozy atmosphere. A FOR ATHENS
Right across Monastiraki square, you will find A for Athens. The prime location of this chic boutique hotel located right in the center of Athens makes for the perfect spot to enjoy a cold drink at its cool rooftop bar. Order one of their great cocktails and enjoy the awesome view of the Acropolis right across you from the comfort of your chair. If your time in Athens is limited then it might be worth choosing this hotel to stay, seeing that it has one of the best locations for exploring the capital. However, keep in mind that it might get a bit loud during the night, and also Monastiraki square tends to get a bit shady during the late-night hours.
COULEUR LOCALE, ATHENS
If you love exploring new hidden gems, then Couleur Locale in Athens is for you. The entrance is on Normanou street and it is quite hidden; it almost feels as if you’re entering a speakeasy joint. Because of its hidden location, this cool spot has managed to remain under the radar for the tourists and so you’ll mainly find local youngsters here. Like with most rooftop bars in Athens, this one too has great cocktails and a nice selection of nibbles to choose from.
HYTRA RESTAURANT & BAR
If you’re passionate about culinary experiences, then dining at Hytra restaurant in Athens will blow your mind. It is hard to combine great food, with a beautiful atmosphere AND stunning views but you’ll see that Hytra offers all that and then some. My suggestion is that you choose one of their degustation menus so to enjoy a full experience of their gourmet dishes paired by either wine or a refreshing cocktail.
Bonus point: The prices are pretty reasonable considering that this is a Michelin a Star restaurant.
ANGLAIS ROOFTOP BAR, ATHENS
Anglais is a cool casual rooftop bar located in Monastiraki at Kirykeiou street. It is great for a quick stop to enjoy a cold Freddo espresso before you continue your exploration to the center of Athens. This spot may be casual but the views over the Acropolis won’t disappoint. This is a great alternative if you’re after a rooftop bar that is a little bit more affordable but you don’t want to compromise on quality, service, and location.
CITY ZEN
I don’t know about you but when I go on holiday, I try at least one popular place for brunch. In Athens, City Zen is one of the best rooftop bars to enjoy a delicious brunch at its green terrace. What I love the most about this place (besides the extraordinary view), is the sophisticated decor and the great service. I can’t recommend it enough!
