Santorini is one of the most magical Greek islands that can make anyone who visits fall under its spell. This Cycladic island is effortlessly chic and has a beauty that takes your breath away! So much so, that has everyone around the world wishing they could visit at least once in their lifetime. I had the opportunity of visiting Santorini twice in the past and let me tell you, it has so much more to offer than the caldera dotted with whitewashed houses.
While I have posted a few articles related to Santorini, I thought I’d also create a photo album so you can bookmark it for later. Santorini deserves all the attention it gets; here are 20 epic photos from my trip to Santorini that can prove that.
20 EPIC PHOTOS FROM MY TRIP TO SANTORINI
Santorini has 450 churches, distinguished by their beautiful architecture. The most famous being the ones located in Oia and Fira, recognised by their white colour and blue domes.
What most people won’t tell you, is that most of the building terraces located on the caldera are private properties. Therefore, climbing on them in order to take a picture, is not allowed.
In pursuit of snapping the perfect Instagrammable photo, unobstructed by the crowds, some tourists choose to trespass (at their own risk).
Trespassing won’t be needed, however, as Santorini offers panoramic breathtaking views from just about anywhere. Be sure to have an empty memory card take some pretty epic photos!
If you venture a little further from the hotspots of Santorini, you will find the quaint village of Pyrgos. This used to be the capital of Santorini before the picture-perfect Oia took the lead.
Pyrgos sits at an idyllic location. It is urrounded by vineyards and offers excellent panoramic views over the island and the Aegean Sea.
Don’t underestimate Santorini’s beaches. The island has some of the best beaches in Greece, with the Red Beach the most popular.
As picturesque as the caldera may be, be sure to allow time to explore the narrow alleys of each town.
There you will find many hidden gems such as cute little restaurants, unique souvenir shops and boutiques.
